...I am pleased to say that we are open for business again but now working from a studio space in the back cabin of the barge ‘Toggenberg’. No longer amongst the hustle and bustle of London’s waterways, we are now surrounded by the hills and fields of Wiltshire along the Kennet & Avon canal.
Having left our old London mooring two months ago, we got to grips with manoeuvring what is in effect a small ship as we made our way down a short stretch of the Grand Union canal and onto the River Thames.
Whilst not all smooth sailing (We had a manic bit of late night work to repair a cooling system failure!), our trip up the tidal Thames was a joy.
At a leisurely pace, we made our way along the wide River, stopping to take in the sights of places like Richmond, Windsor and Henley-on-Thames and make the odd emergency repair. It is great to have a new and interesting view from our windows every day!
Leaving the River Thames at Reading we joined the Kennet & Avon canal, a very different experience - narrow and wild with us barely squeezing through in places...
Having dealt with little hurdles along the way, such as a mountain bike wrapped around the propeller and sections of canal devoid of water, we are ready for new challenges. We are now planning on trading from our boat as well as online and also launching a new range of papercut art inspired by our journey and new surroundings.
